DONNA JACKSON, SECRETARY

LARIMER CONSENSUS GROUP

Donna Marie Jackson has dedicated a lifetime to service. A retired telecommunications officer for the City of Pittsburgh's Public Safety Department, Jackson answered thousands of calls for help and was expected to make accurate, appropriate on-the-spot decisions to ensure benefit over tragedy to those requesting assistance. Jackson’s commitment to the work, and the people earned her the post as vice chair of Local 2719 and positioned her to become the chief steward of AFSCME Local 2719.

Continuing with life, seeking opportunities to be a service to others. Jackson joined her community’s planning committee in 2013 and, three years later, became a member of the Larimer Consensus Group board of directors — one of the first communities to market green community, infrastructure and stormwater management.

Jackson’s journey with LCG saw her rise from secretary and treasurer to becoming the organization’s chairperson —  a challenging role, especially without an executive director. In this dual role, she spearheaded remarkable achievements, including securing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Urban Redevelopment Authority for community involvement in development decisions. Jackson also played a pivotal role in LCG becoming Pittsburgh's first designated Resident Community Organization among the city's 90 communities, in addition to completing the Mayor's Civic Leadership Training and the City Planning Department's Community Engagement and resident capacity-building programs.
